Why is getting protein from vegetables instead of meat beneficial?
This dietary approach is beneficial not only for human health but also for the health of the planet. Recent research shows that getting protein from vegetables can have amazing benefits for your heart.
A 30-year study found that people who consumed plant-based protein were 19% less likely to develop heart disease compared to those who consumed meat-based protein.
Moreover, researchers also found that individuals who got their protein from vegetables had a 27% lower risk of coronary heart disease.
Additionally, Dr. Frank Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard University and the senior author of the study, stated, "Most of us need to transition our diet towards plant-based proteins, and we can do this by reducing meat and processed meats and eating more beans and nuts. This dietary shift is not only beneficial for human health but also for the health of our planet."
Researchers also believe that fully adopting a plant-based diet can be especially effective in reducing the risks of coronary heart disease (CHD).
