Increase in Chest Infections with the Arrival of Cold Weather

If you experience symptoms like coughing, sneezing, sore throat, or nasal congestion, seek medical attention.

With the arrival of cold weather, respiratory infections are on the rise across the country. Respiratory and asthma specialist Dr. Waqas Rashid stated that the cold weather leads to a rapid increase in respiratory infections, and people should take precautionary measures.

He further emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy diet to reduce the risks of illnesses ranging from mild colds to severe pneumonia. Dr. Rashid advised the public to remain cautious and seek medical help if they experience persistent symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, sore throat, or nasal congestion.

Experts attribute the rise in such cases to the sudden drop in temperature and call for simple steps to reduce the risks, including wearing masks, washing hands frequently, staying hydrated, avoiding contact with symptomatic individuals, and maintaining a nutritious diet. Dr. Rashid also highlighted traditional remedies such as warm, nutritious broths and soups that help boost immunity and alleviate symptoms.
